In observance of the Juneteenth holiday, Kent County Levy Court offices will be closed on Friday, June 19. Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and serves as a time for reflection, education, and recognition of the ongoing pursuit of equality. Normal operations will resume on Monday, June 22.

DOVER--Hon. Eugenia Thornton, the Kent County Recorder of Deeds will host a workshop for real estate attorneys, title searchers, and paralegals at Roma Italian Ristorante, 3 President’s Way, Dover on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 4 to 5, with social time afterwards.
Topics for discussion will include: proper formatting of real estate transfer and mortgage documents to reduce nonconforming and rejected documents to speeding up the recording process without losing accuracy; a new tax form required by the State of Delaware; a new way to notate recorded documents that have been rescanned; a new note to searchers about indexing conventions to make searching easier.
Also planned for discussion: a new way to make processing of credit cards faster and easier for those accessing Deeds software remotely; a new way to access Transfer Tax information from our website; and finally, what Kent County Deeds office is doing about keeping property owners safer from Title Fraud.
Similar events are forecasted for Lenders and Relators in the months to come.
