Kent County Offices will be closed on Friday, April 3rd in honor of Good Friday. Essential and emergency services will still be available. Regular hours will resume on Monday, April 6th.
The Sheriff's Office of Kent County would like to bring attention to another scam targeting residents. The caller, posing as a Kent County Sheriff's officer, will advise them that they missed a court date and are demanding that they pay preemptive bail or be imprisoned immediately.
In August 2025, Kent County received the results of a comprehensive year-long study conducted by FACETS, LLC, to investigate and detail the financial health and sustainability of the volunteer fire protection and ambulance transport services within the county and throughout most of Delaware. In 2024, there was an initiative by all three counties to look at the volunteer service and offer a snapshot of current finances, volunteer, and personnel trends; and to provide recommendations on the next steps to ensure that public safety networks, which have long served their communities, remain capable of meeting the evolving needs of a growing population within the county and state.
