Kent County Department Heads have selected VANESSA L. FULKERSON from the Recorder of Deeds Office as the JANUARY 2024 Employee of the Month.
Vanessa is a Deed Clerk II in the Kent County Recorder of Deeds Office and started with Kent County in February 2022 as a Deed Clerk I. She was promoted to a Deed Clerk II in October 2022.
Before starting with the County, she worked as a Legal/Administrative Assistant with the Law Offices of Bonnie Benson. Prior to that, Vanessa worked as a Legal Assistant with Grady & Hampton, LLC.
Vanessa is responsible for the recordation of all electronic property documents, accounting for 70% of the Deeds Office’s work product.
She played a crucial role in the recovery process of recording paper and electronic documents after connectivity was restored from last July’s Network Intrusion. Because of Vanessa’s strong work ethic and determination, she was able to process almost 2,000 electronic documents by August 30, resuming same day recording services and drawing praise from legal and lending communities.
According to Recorder of Deeds Eugenia Thornton “Thanks to Vanessa’s dedication and professionalism, hundreds of Kent County citizens bought and sold their homes with less delay than expected due to the network intrusion and interest rates as promised. Vanessa is a shining example of “Serving Kent County with Pride.”
Congratulations Vanessa on a job well done!
