Trash & Sewer

Emergency Contact For Sewer Emergency

Department Information

The Department of Public Works is responsible for Wastewater Management, Trash, Recycling and Yard Waste, and Streetlight services in Kent County for most areas that are typically not in a municipality.

Ongoing Sewer Inspections

The Public Works Department currently has a subcontractor (Dukes Root Control) working throughout the County doing inspections of sewer infrastructure. Work will generally occur between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. This method of testing requires representatives from Duke’s Root Control, Inc. to access manholes located within the Right-of-Way and/or utility easements, including those on private property. If Duke’s requires the use of your driveway to park equipment, they will contact you prior. Per manhole, the inspection process should last less than 30 minutes. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. All Duke’s representatives will have identification badges and will be wearing company uniforms at all times. Please feel free to contact the Kent County Public Works Department at 302-744-2430 during normal business hours, 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m.
