General Description
The purpose of this position is to perform licensed electrician tasks in the installation, maintenance and repair operations at wastewater facilities and pumping stations.
This position works under general supervision of higher level Electricians, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Duties & Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions as necessary.
- Troubleshoots possible repair solutions of malfunctioning electrical/electronic equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections using applicable forms to ensure reliability of the pumps station equipment.
- Assembles sewage pump station electrical control cabinets using professionally designed electrical drawings.
- Repairs or reprograms communication devices such as radios uses radio configuration utility software and landline automatic dialers.
- Performs electrical repairs and upgrades on large industrial solar field. Encompasses replacement of major components such as inverters, solar panels, solar arrays, and disconnect switches.
- Repairs or replaces light fixtures.
- Drives and operates electrical bucket truck to install high intensity lights and antennas.
- Installs electronic level transducers and electrical float tree assemblies.
- Tests motors, control and power transformers, relays, and insulation resistance test equipment.
- Ensures standby power generators and automatic transfer switches are available and are ready to supply a secondary power source.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by four (4) years responsible experience in electrical work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional Requirements
Good knowledge of the standard practices, tools and terminology of the electrical trade; ability to assist with repairs to electrical equipment using safe practices; ability to perform manual work; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with coworkers and supervisors; some knowledge of personal computers and pertinent applications; regular and timely attendance; performance of duties in a safe manner.

- This is very heavy work requiring exertion more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, More than 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

- Visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, night vision, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm’s length, Operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
- Mental acuity is required to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.

Special Certifications and License Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver license which will permit the operation of all County commercial type vehicular equipment and maintain an acceptable driving history.
- Must possess and retain a Limited Electrician license.
