Pay Range $59,280 - $86,507

General Description

The purpose of this position is to perform master level licensed electrician tasks in the installation, maintenance and repair operations of wiring, electrical systems and equipment, and mechanical systems at wastewater facilities and pumping stations. Performs the duties of the County’s Automation Control System Administrator (SCADA). This single position class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Duties & Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions as necessary.

  • Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
  • Plans, devises and executes programming changes and updates to ICONICS, PLC, HMI's and other data manipulation systems.
  • Installs and maintains electrical systems and equipment associated with systems operations.
  • Updates and builds new logic to maintain ICONICS software.
  • Updates and builds programs to monitor/operate the wastewater plant operation systems.
  • Ensures safe operation of all electrical equipment by strict adherence to safety precautions.
  • Instruct assigned maintenance or operations staff in assisting with different tasks.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot computerized monitoring/control systems (SCADA).
  • Serves on-call as the responder for pumping station or plant electrical emergencies.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by four (4) years responsible electrical experience working in commercial or industrial applications or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional Requirements

Thorough knowledge of the principles, terminology, tools and equipment used in the electrical trade; thorough knowledge of electrical theory and codes; skill in the use of highly technical computer applications, such as GIS or CAD; ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and schematics; ability to make repairs using electrical safety practices; ability to work with all voltages; good knowledge of mechanical systems and repair work; ability to plan and direct work of other electricians and assistants; ability to perform manual work; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with coworkers and supervisors; some knowledge of personal computers and pertinent applications; regular and timely attendance; performance of duties in a safe manner.

  • This is very heavy work requiring exertion more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, More than 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Special Certifications and License Requirements

  • Must possess and retain a Master Electrician license.
