Pay Range $42,141 - $61,506

General Description

Performs specialized to complex clerical work which may require, depending upon the area of assignment, data entry, processing, research, and filing of a variety of legal documents performed in an automated work environment.This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Duties & Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions as necessary.

  • Answers telephones; provide assistance and customer support; refers callers to other staff members as appropriate; and takes messages.
  • Performs typing and data entry and reviews and processes a variety of administrative and public legal documents.
  • Performs a combination of assignments that can require operation of document scanner equipment, personal computers, telecommunication equipment, or other records support services and technologies.
  • Provide records, information, and services to the general public and respond to inquiries and requests from attorneys, litigants, agencies, and the court.
  • Sorts, screens, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail; drafts or prepares responses to routine inquiries; prepares photocopies and facsimiles.
  • Arranges meetings and conferences, schedules interviews and appointments, and performs other duties related to maintaining one or more individual schedules.
  • Performs file management and inventory control tasks.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) year of basic clerical or office support or customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Requirements

Good knowledge of office and legal terminology, procedures and equipment and of business arithmetic and English; some knowledge of elementary bookkeeping; may require the ability to take and transcribe dictation; ability to maintain clerical records; ability to make relatively complex mathematical computations rapidly and accurately; ability to provide quality customer service; clerical aptitude; good judgment; tact and courtesy; willingness and ability to adapt to new office procedures as required; working knowledge automated office equipment, practices and procedures; ability to follow instructions in accordance with laws, regulations, and procedures; regular and timely attendance; performance of duties in a safe manner.Must pass testing for substance abuse and criminal background investigation. Must maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes harmonious relations with customers, co-workers, and supervisors. Direct deposit of pay required.

  • This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

  • Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.
